This seminar was timed to follow the Welsh Government's response to their consultation on reforming the Apprenticeship model in Wales, this seminar brought together key policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the future for design and delivery of Apprenticeships in Wales.
Sessions examined the impact of changes to Apprenticeship frameworks in other parts of the UK, lessons to be learned from these new frameworks and their implementation, as well as how to ensure the compatibility of any new Welsh system.
Delegates also discussed whether the Welsh Government's plans are likely to successfully address key challenges, including: tackling the low level of uptake among 16-19 year olds, increasing the number of employers offering Apprenticeships and growing their role in the design process, and developing more Apprenticeships at Level 3 up to degree-equivalent Levels 5, 6 and 7.
Attendees included officials from the Welsh Government and representatives from the National Assembly alongside employers, industry groups and trade associations, colleges and other training providers, charities, academics and others with an interest in this important area of policy.
