With both the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act and the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act having come into force - and in light of the publication of CSSIW’s National Review of Domiciliary Care in Wales expected in late June - this seminar was a timely opportunity to discuss the challenges and next steps for social care in Wales.
Imelda Richardson, Chief Inspector, Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales and Sarah Rochira, Older People's Commissioner for Wales delivered keynote addresses at this seminar.
The conference also brought together key stakeholder perspectives to share thinking on the three-year development programme for domiciliary care workers, the findings of the recently-launched Welsh Government consultation, Domiciliary care workforce, as well as the financial sustainability of the care sector in Wales in light of budget cuts and the introduction of the National Living Wage.
