Delegates at this seminar discussed the future for arts and cultural education in Wales.
The seminar followed the Welsh Government’s acceptance of Professor Graham Donaldson’s Successful Futures review, which included expressive arts as one of the six key Areas of Learning and Experience that will make up the new Welsh national curriculum.
It also came in light of the Welsh Government and Arts Council of Wales joint report Creative Learning through the Arts – an action plan for Wales which set out a plan for maximising young people’s participation in the arts and supporting teachers in delivering creative education.
Sessions explored the subject areas that may be included in the new arts curriculum as it develops, along with how schools and teachers can be supported to implement the new curriculum and deliver a wide range of arts and cultural experiences.
