December 2015

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

At a time of significant reform within the housing sector, this timely seminar brought together key policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the future of housing policy in Wales.
Attendees examined the challenges for the implementation of the Housing (Wales) Act - which includes measures designed to bring empty homes back into use, stronger duties on local authorities to prevent homelessness and a new compulsory registration and licensing regime for private sector landlords. Delegates also discussed the proposals for tenancy reform contained in the Renting Homes Bill, currently awaiting Royal Assent.
Further sessions looked at the impact so far of Welsh Government attempts to stimulate growth in housing supply and home ownership including the Help to Buy Cymru and Houses into Homes schemes. They also considered the likely effect of the Planning Act on further supporting new housing developments and further steps the Welsh Government can take to help meet housing demand in light of the Housing Supply Task Force's report which set out a wide-range of recommendations to help drive local authority, housing association and private-sector homebuilding.
This seminar brought key policymakers together with stakeholders in the housing sector including housing associations; industry bodies and regulators; home-builders and developers; property and estate agents; members of the legal profession; tenant, landlord and consumer groups; housing publications and websites; mortgage lenders; local authorities; academics and other interested parties.
