This seminar was an opportunity to discuss the future for primary care services in Wales.
It followed the Welsh Government's and NHS Wales’ four year plan for improving and reforming primary care service for Wales - released in November 2014. Delegates assessed the challenges for delivering the plan’s aim of a primary care service based on 'prudent' healthcare principles, including a greater proportion of services being delivered in the community or in the home.
Further areas discussed included the future of the GP and allied health professionals workforce, funding for primary care services, access to services and how to address rising demand.
This seminar brought together key policymakers - including Welsh Government officials, Assembly Members and regulators in Wales - with stakeholders including GP and allied health professional representatives, Local Health Boards, emergency services, community health councils and other patient groups, pharmacies, academics, charities and other interested parties.
