Coming in light of ongoing discussion about devolution of the legal and justice systems in Wales, which was included in the Welsh Government’s Government and Laws in Wales Draft Bill, and following the publication of the Wales Bill by the UK government, this seminar focused on the future of legal services in Wales.
Sessions focused on the impact of devolution on the future of Wales’ legal system, in addition to the potential for the future devolution of responsibility for legal and justice systems.
Delegates also discussed the state of the legal market in Wales - including the growth of alternative business structures, digital service delivery, encouraging inward investment and strategies for supporting small and medium sized practices; along with the legal education and training landscape, improved diversity within the profession and the growth of apprenticeships in the sector.
