This conference in bringing together stakeholders with policymakers to discuss the implementation of the new Curriculum for Wales in secondary schools and next steps for assessment in secondary schools and post-16 qualifications.
It follows the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act, and will be an opportunity to examine the Government’s implementation plan for transitioning to delivering the new curriculum in year 7 later this year - including possible implications of its delay, the impact of the pandemic, and the potential contribution of the plan in supporting education recovery.
We also expect delegates to assess what is needed to support teachers and schools, and priorities for the six new Areas of Learning and Experience in terms of providing an education that successfully prepares students for the future.
We are pleased to be able to include keynote sessions with Dr Georgina Haarhoff, Deputy Director, Curriculum and Assessment, Welsh Government; and Cassy Taylor, Director of Policy and Reform, Qualifications Wales.
The conference will be an opportunity for stakeholders to consider the issues alongside key policy officials who are due to attend from Senedd Cymru; the Welsh Government, and the IPO.
