This conference will bring together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the next steps for the effective implementation of the North Wales Growth Deal and consider the challenges for moving the Deal forward.
It follows the UK Government budget commitment of £120m, which has been matched by the Welsh Government in order for the Growth Deal to be agreed.
Planned sessions will look at the potential steps that can be taken to realise the Deal’s ambitions of enhancing the region’s low carbon, advanced manufacturing and digital sectors; promoting growth and the development of Regional Business and Smart Technology and Innovation hubs; creating new jobs and attracting £1bn worth of private sector investment over 15 years.
Further sessions will also consider the latest thinking on meeting skills needs, attracting investment, and further commercial priorities for the region - as well as the outlook for the development of major infrastructure projects, including planned improvements to the transport and communications networks.
Discussion is also expected to focus on the long-term economic challenges for the region, including reducing outward migration and the retention of young people, increasing overall employment levels and ensuring an adequate level of affordable housing to support the expected growth in employment.
